The boardroom blind spot
Few functions move the bottom line more than procurement — and few get less boardroom attention. Why leadership teams overrate their prices, and why the potential never runs out.
Read →Aitenda pools the full procurement volume of many large companies into one negotiating bloc. Every category is negotiated with the combined strength of all. Members remain independent, with full data ownership — and every member gets the same terms and the same insight.
A strategic procurement collaboration is a network of independent companies that pool their procurement volume and negotiate supplier agreements as one bloc. It is typically organised as a separate legal entity that runs tenders category by category on behalf of its members, based on their actual requirements, and often operates a shared purchase-to-pay platform through which the awarded agreements are used. Unlike a purchasing consortium or group purchasing organisation (GPO), which typically resells pre-negotiated catalogue prices, a strategic collaboration negotiates its own agreements on the members’ combined volume. Unlike a procurement consultancy, it does not end with a report: the agreements are put to use, and the transaction data feeds the next tender. Members remain independent and own their own data.
Aitenda is a strategic procurement collaboration organised as Aitenda Group AS. Aitenda runs its tenders at article level, operates the purchase-to-pay platform aitenda.net, and gives every member the same product prices and terms on all supplier agreements.
Also described as: procurement network, group procurement, purchasing cooperation, buying alliance — innkjøpssamarbeid (NO), inköpssamarbete (SV), indkøbsfællesskab (DA), hankintayhteistyö (FI).
Fragmented volume weakens the negotiating position — and every supplier relationship demands time and resources.
An overlapping, uncontrolled product range increases inventory costs and makes standardisation and negotiation difficult.
Procurement teams are too small for strategic work — time goes to operational firefighting while ESG and compliance demands grow.
Even large enterprises lack sufficient volume in many categories to reach the best prices available.
A large share of purchases happens outside negotiated agreements — value won at the table leaks away order by order.
A strategic procurement collaboration — not a purchasing central, and not a supplier. One bloc, every category: each tender carries the combined volume of all members.
Members pool procurement volume — direct and indirect — at article level. Each member's data remains its own — it enters the bloc only as anonymised volume.
Aitenda runs professional tenders on the combined volume — category by category at article level, based on a defined category strategy — not basket averages. Suppliers compete for the whole bloc at once.
Awarded supplier agreements flow into a shared purchase-to-pay e-commerce platform, Aitenda.net — one order and approval process for all members. Integrated with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, IFS and other major ERP systems — one data flow, no double entry.
Agreements are not negotiated on gut feeling and opinions. Through Aitenda.net we analyse every member's orders, invoices and enriched product data from suppliers — together with prices, trends and results — into one factual picture of what the bloc actually requires.
Not only market intelligence — insight into each member's needs and requirements, spend, supplier bonuses and other KPIs. AI tools classify articles, match products across suppliers and surface price trends at a scale no manual team could.
The insight exists for one purpose: tenders at category scope, specified at article level — so suppliers price exactly what the members actually buy.
All orders, invoices and product data give unique insight on needs and requirements — and every member keeps its own transaction data.
A signed agreement is only half the result. Without one shared order and approval process, purchases drift off contract, ordering and approvals stay manual, loyalty to agreements stays low — and no data accumulates.
Aitenda.net closes that gap. Suppliers present and maintain their catalogues, every employee orders in one place, goods receipt and invoice are approved in one flow — integrated with each member's ERP.
The awarded supplier in each category presents, maintains and enriches its products in Aitenda.net — correct product data at the source, no catalogue work for the members. A guaranteed channel that rewards the supplier with higher sales through the agreement.
Every employee orders on the negotiated agreements; goods receipt and invoice approval happen in the same flow. Each member reaches Aitenda.net through a dedicated button on its own intranet — one familiar entry point for the whole organisation.
Aitenda.net integrated with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, IFS and other major systems. One data flow from order to posted invoice — no double entry, no parallel routines.
Contract loyalty rises when the agreement is the easiest way to buy. The negotiated prices become the prices actually paid — and every purchase costs less to process.
Ordering and approval take minutes, not e-mail chains. Requisitioners, approvers and finance get time back — procurement gets time for strategy.
Every transaction is complete, approved and audit-ready — surfaced in KPI dashboards for each member’s team and leadership, and as input to the next tender.
Changing supplier means changing the catalogue — not the members’ systems or habits. Low switching costs keep pressure on price and service after the tender.
Members retain full ownership and control of their transaction data at all times. Aitenda operates on it. It never owns it. Full export rights at all times — machine-readable, no lock-in.
Every member gets the same prices and the same terms on every supplier agreement — with no exceptions.
Every member holds an equal seat. On the supplier agreements there is no anchor customer, no volume tiers and no preferential terms — the same product prices and terms for the whole bloc, regardless of a member's volume in the category.
Equal treatment applies to the supplier agreements. Aitenda's own service fee scales with volume, so larger members pay relatively less per unit of spend — by design. Every member benefits when high-volume companies join and enlarge the bloc.
Aitenda knows its members' needs first-hand — not through account managers or surveys. The insight comes from two places: the facts that accumulate in Aitenda.net, and tender teams where Aitenda's procurement professionals and analysts work directly with people from the member organisations. That is also why Aitenda stays lean.
Every order and invoice in Aitenda.net documents what the members actually buy and need — category by category. Tenders start from that factual picture, not from assumptions.
Every tender is run as a procurement project with people from the member organisations on the team — requirements come straight from the source, and category knowledge stays current.
When insight comes straight from the data and the tender teams, no layers are needed to gather, interpret and translate member needs. The organisation stays small — and the cost of running it low.
Aitenda represents the combined volume of the bloc — but agreements only work when both sides win. We negotiate hard on facts, and we build long-term supplier relationships on the same foundation: real volume, low cost to serve, and a professional counterpart.
Every member orders on the agreement through aitenda.net. What you win in the tender is what you deliver — contract loyalty is built into the flow, not left to chance.
One tender gives access to the combined volume of the bloc — awarded as one or several contracts per category, as the category requires. One counterpart, one catalogue, one order flow: significantly lower cost to serve.
Tenders are specified at article level and awarded on facts. You know what it takes to win — and if you don’t, you know why.
Awarded suppliers maintain their own catalogue in aitenda.net and meet one professional counterpart through the agreement period. We work with our suppliers on assortment, standardisation and service — performance is reviewed together, not inspected from a distance.
Run alone, procurement is an operational cost function. Run as one bloc, it becomes a competitive advantage.
Combined volume typically delivers a 5–15% price reduction within tendered categories — in individual tenders often far more. And the effect never stops: categories are re-tendered again and again, each round starting from better facts than the last. A self-reinforcing flywheel.
Mid-to-large industrial companies with substantial procurement volume — direct and indirect: raw materials and components alongside MRO, packaging, tools, safety equipment and facility services. Spend that is large in total, but too fragmented to negotiate well plant by plant.
The network may open to logistics & 3PL and construction contractors as the bloc grows.
Tor founded Aitenda to give mid-to-large companies the negotiating position to reduce total procurement cost. Lower prices and efficient source-to-pay processes — without giving up their independence or their data.
He led Gress Gruppen for five years — a procurement collaboration with NOK 4.5 billion in purchasing volume, and a subsidiary running NOK 10 billion through its purchase-to-pay platform. Before that, a serial entrepreneur — founder and CEO of ISTINN, later INTUNOR, a Visma-certified accounting and finance outsourcing business — and for 15 years subject lead in supply chain management at Østfold University College.
Mid-market procurement is large, fragmented and under-negotiated — and no single company can fix that alone. Aitenda is building the network that does: aggregation, article-level tendering, purchase-to-pay and a shared procurement organisation in one transparent system, starting from a Nordic base with a European perspective and global reach.

Read →A generous basket discount can hide an overprice on the articles you actually buy. The case for negotiating at the article level.
Read →Most procurement networks monetise member data. Aitenda's model is built the other way around: you own your data, always.
Read →Aitenda is built by people who know procurement from the inside. We want to hear from procurement specialists, controllers and analysts who work with facts — people who run categories, read the numbers behind an agreement, and want their work to count across a whole bloc rather than one company. Introduce yourself; we build the team as the network grows.
A GPO typically resells pre-negotiated catalogue prices and earns on supplier rebates. Aitenda runs its own tenders on the members’ combined volume, category by category at article level, and awards agreements that apply equally to every member: the same product prices and terms for the whole bloc.
No. Members decide which categories they bring into the bloc. Aitenda splits categories into several agreements where that serves the members, and competition stays alive because the switching cost between awarded suppliers is low.
Each member owns its own transaction data. Aggregated facts are used to specify tenders and are reported back to members as insight. A member’s own data is never sold and remains the member’s property.
Every supplier agreement carries the same product prices and terms for the whole bloc, regardless of a member’s volume in the category. Allocation, prices and terms are reported transparently to all members.
Aitenda’s fee scales with volume — larger volumes pay relatively less. The fee is set out in the membership terms.
Mid-to-large companies with significant procurement volume, initially industrial companies. Aitenda is based in Oslo with a European perspective and global reach — members outside the Nordics are welcome.
aitenda.net is the shared purchase-to-pay platform where every employee at a member company orders on the negotiated agreements, and goods receipt and invoice approval run in the same flow. It integrates with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, IFS and other major ERP systems.
Both. Aitenda negotiates combined procurement volume across direct and indirect categories, wherever the members’ requirements can be specified at article level.
Tell us who you are and what you buy. We reply with the membership terms, the transparency framework and a mapping of your categories against the bloc. And of course — we listen to and analyse your needs and requirements.
